Okay, it’s official. I’m doing this, and I don’t feel like stopping.
In fact, I really want to make more of these, and I’ve got at least four drive-in speakers – in various stages of restoration – going forward. Yes, I do.
And as I restore them, this time I’m putting the drive-in speaker restoration projects on YouTube, so that maybe I can get a few subscribers or a few comments or a few anythings.
The latest drive-in speaker restoration project? I went back to the Malta Drive-In speaker project I crafted during the pandemic, and made a brand new one. One that works. One that plays and operates and looks great.
And yep … while I worked on it … I filmed all my steps. And now there’s a YouTube video for it.
Yes, this is fun. Yes, I’m learning techniques like soldering and crimping and multimeter readings and now to check potentiometers to guarantee that they work … I may not completely UNDERSTAND what I’m doing, but it’s all a learning process nonetheless.
And if you want something really cool to see …
Guess who reposted this YouTube video on their Facebook page.
Oh, don’t bother guessing. Here’s a screenshot.

Yeah, that’s way cool. Excuse me while I grow a smile that introduces one ear to the other.
So Goodie! So MCM! BTW the square heads are Robertson’s; a Canadian standard. Perhaps they were made in my country?

To pump these videos up to the next level you need an audio source to play through the speaker to demonstrate the fine sound quality – of a four inch speaker in a cast pot metal housing. Not exactly the 16-16kHz experience, but it would prove it works.

I’m working on that now. My main problem is that whatever I pump through this has to be royalty-free or public domain, or else I’ll get a YouTube strike. Plus, I only have one video camera source right now (my cell phone), which I would use to hook up to my Bluetooth adapter to film. So I need to get a second video camera (which shouldn’t be too hard to do, there are pawn shops around), and then we’re good to go. But I’m glad you like the videos.
